SIA Certification

A door supervisor is a security hand entrusted with the job of ensuring security and protection in a venue open for access to the public, such as clubs, discos, pubs, and other licensed premises. A door supervisor is also responsible for screening visitors to such premises from the security angle. Anyone who wants to take up a job as door supervisor must possess a licence issued by the Security Industry Authority (SIA).

Established in 2004 by the Government in accordance with the Private Security Industry Act 2001, SIA is an autonomous body authorised to issue a licence to qualified candidates who seek to work as door supervisors in both England and Wales. A candidate who successfully completes an approved course of SIA can apply for a licence as an SIA National Door Supervisor. This certification also makes a candidate eligible to apply for issue of a Security Operatives (Manned Guard) licence.
